Gorulmeyen Gazete hosts the 1st International Chess Tournament for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Turkiye..
Turkiye’s first and only newspaper for the visually impaired, Gorulmeyen Gazete, is breaking new ground this year! In collaboration with the Turkish Chess Federation, Gorulmeyen Gazete will host the International Chess Tournament for the Visually Impaired, offering not just a sports competition but an unforgettable festival atmosphere filled with culture, art, and music.
The tournament will take place between October 6–10, 2025, at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Sile Disability Camp Social Facilities. All visually impaired participants and one accompanying person will benefit from free accommodation at the venue throughout the tournament.
This prestigious event will feature 40 top-ranked Turkish players, selected based on the September 2025 national rating list, competing alongside internationally renowned visually impaired chess masters with FIDE ELO ratings. Games will be played at a 90-minute + 30-second increment time control, following an 8-round Swiss system, and will be rated for both ELO and National rating (UKD) calculations.
Players wishing to participate must complete the online registration form provided in the continuation of the announcement. After registrations close, the final list of participants, determined according to the maximum rating order, will be published on September 16, 2025 (Tuesday) at istanbul.tsf.org.tr.
At the end of the tournament, the top-performing players will share a total prize budget of 200,000 TL along with trophies, while all participants who complete the tournament will receive certificates of participation.
